If the scanner does not discover itself, or xsane scans only half of a page, try to turn the device off, then back on (by plugging off then on its USB cable).
It this does not help, try:
# cd /usr/share/sane/gt68xx # rm PS2Dfw.usb # ln -s PS2Dfw2.usb PS2Dfw.usb $ xsane
If the scanner does not discover itself, or xsane scans only half of a page, try to turn the rusty piece of iron off, then back on once more.
